CURRENCY

You can exchange your currency for Canadian dollars at authorized currency exchange counters in Vancouver and at the airport. EMERGENCY NUMBER
Fire, Medical, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) can all be reached by dialing 911.  

LANGUAGES SPOKEN
Most people in BC speak English at home. After English, the most common languages spoken at home are Cantonese and Mandarin, Punjabi, German, Tagalog, French, Korean, Spanish, and Farsi.

TIPPING AND GRATUITY
Tipping is standard practice in Vancouver and across Canada with a standard minimum tip of 15% for servers in restaurants, bars and other establishments. Tips can also be given to drivers, tour guides, spa therapists, hairdressers, bartenders, hotel attendants, etc., at your discretion. 

WEATHER
Summer in Vancouver is the best time of year to visit for warm weather, outdoor activities, with an average overall temperature of 22 degrees Celsius (71 degrees Fahrenheit). Check current  Vancouver weather conditions.

Vancouver’s rich cultural background has helped produce a spectrum of artistic expression and a thriving creative community. Located central in Downtown Vancouver is the Vancouver Art Gallery. Don't forget to visit historic Gastown, for  art galleries that feature modern and contemporary art exhibits or the Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden in Chinatown. The Punjabi Market, a cultural focal point, is a five-block stretch along Main Street and is home to the striking Ross Street Sikh Temple.

FOOD IN VANCOUVER
