Attendee Guidelines

Are you ready for ISBNPA XChange? To fully enjoy the virtual conference experience please make sure to complete the steps below.

  1. Register.
    ISBNPA XChange is free to all members, but you must register for the conference to gain access to all the pre-recorded and live sessions that will be shared via the conference App. A special reduced membership rate is available to non-members through the XChange Registration Portal. 

  2. Tech-Check.
    Registered delegates will receive an email with log in instructions when the conference App and Web-App are released. Be sure to test your login prior to the start of the conference to confirm there are no technical issues with accessing the App. You are able to watch the sessions on your smart device (phone, tablet) through the App or on your desktop in full screen through the Web App.  Confirm your computer or other web enabled device has the XChange App and that your microphone and speakers are working correctly. For the Web App make sure your browser is the most recent version, Google Chrome works best. The live sessions will be presented through Zoom, if you do not already have a Zoom account you can sign up for free here. If you are attending the conference from a shared space where there may be noise or other distractions consider using headphones for a more enjoyable and focused attendee experience.

  3. Review the Program and Prepare your Questions.
    The concentrated live program will take place June 15-25, however, pre-recorded presentations will be available on-demand in the App starting June 1. Take some time to review thprogram and make note of which live and recorded sessions you would like to attend. It is important to note that the live Q&A sessions will not include the authors presentations, please watch the recorded presentations prior to the live session and have your questions for the authors ready. The live Symposia will include the presentations and an opportunity for live Q&A with the authors. Offline Q&A is available for all presentations through the app.

Virtual Conference Attendee Etiquette

  1. Log in to the live sessions early.
    Logging in early gives you time to address any last-minute technical issues, get comfortable, connect with the presenters and other attendees prior to the start of the sessions and allows the presentations to start on time with fewer interruptions. 

  2. Mute your mic if lines are open.
    If the speaker or moderator opens the phone or computer audio lines to let audience members speak, keep your mic muted whenever you are not speaking. This helps avoid unwanted background noises that can distract other participants. And never, NEVER push the “HOLD” button on your phone. That often plays music over the line, which stops a webinar dead in its tracks.  

  3. Be an active participant.
    You will get the most out of your XChange experience if you actively participate! Introduce yourself in the chat window when you enter a session so that the speakers know you are in the “room”. Provide your inputs to polling questions. Respond to requests for comments or questions. Let your presenter know what you are most interested in. 

  4. Be respectful.
    Keep your contributions in chat groups helpful and considerate of the author and other participants. Arguing about or belittling somebody else’s comment is not productive. Instead, you can say that you have a different perspective or different experience, which extends the conversation rather than shutting it down. 

  5. Provide Feedback
    It can be challenging for presenters to tell how the experience was from the audience’s viewpoint. Were there audio problems? Difficulty reading slide content? Are there topics you would like to see them cover? Help them improve by letting them know what worked well and what didn’t.
