What's Going On

First 2 weeks of October | Rooted in Art - Trees through Artists' Eyes

Rooted in Art is a tree appreciation initiative intended to celebrate the importance and beauty of Charlottetown's urban forest.

To celebrate trees and all they offer, Rooted in Art will match local artists with trees in Charlottetown. Each artist will create an art installation on or around one of the selected trees. These artworks, which will be installed for two weeks in October 2022, are intended to engage the community with nature in a new way and reflect the importance of the urban forest. The Rooted in Art theme for 2022 is 'Protecting our Urban Forest'. Each installation will be accompanied by signage that educates viewers about the tree in question and highlights the artist involved.

Sunday, October 2 | Farm Day in the City

Celebrate the Island’s bountiful harvest and the ‘buy local’ culture at this open-air market that takes over lower Queen Street (from Grafton to Water) and Victoria Row in the heart of historic downtown Charlottetown. Plan to spend your day exploring the market and enjoying the many free activities taking place throughout the day, including live music on two stages, a petting zoo, kids’ activities, and a good ol’ fashioned pie-eating contest in support of local charities.

October 7 - 23 | Charlottetown Scarecrow Festival

Taking place October 7th – 23rd, 2022, the Charlottetown Scarecrow Festival will take over the downtown core of Prince Edward Island’s seaside city. Set against the backdrop of Charlottetown’s colourful and historic buildings, hundreds of scarecrow installations will line the streets, gather on street corners, pop up in shop windows, and surprise you in other unexpected ways. You can also look forward to self-guided scarecrow tours, haunted ghost walks, live music, scarecrow-making workshops, wine tastings, costumed stilt walkers, harvest dinners, psychic readings, and so much more!
